Hello,
Firstly I’d like to say how excited I am to join JCAD and that I’m looking forward to meeting many of you in the forthcoming months.
One of my first tasks has been to produce this early 2007 newsletter and I hope you find it useful and informative. To further increase its value I’d be delighted to receive contributions/articles that you think others might find beneficial. If you have something then please get in contact with me!

DEVELOPMENT
JCAD LACHS – new incremental release available very soon. Incidentally, there are a number of customers that have not yet upgraded to 3.8. This is a free upgrade, available for download from our user ‘user area’ on the website and provided a number of new features.
In addition to a new version of LACHS we are also planning a new release of JCAD Risk (version 1.9) which will be available sometime in March. New elements within this version include;
- Improved web functionality, for instance the ability to send emails and upload documents within the diary letter section.
- Fuller control over user permissions and thus the functionality available to them.

WHY USE JCAD ADDITIONAL APPLICATIONS? |
Benefits |
Insurance Manager/department |
Local Authority |
Asset Register |
Streamline processes by incorporating assets such as property, contents and vehicles within the system.
Sophisticated diary facility for actions, documents and emails as well as historical reporting. |
Manage all major assets from within the one package. Claims experience between individual assets can be analysed when combined with the Premium Apportionment module. |
Premium Apportionment |
This complex annual process can be carried out from within JCAD LACHS saving you time whilst also providing more consistent, reliable and auditable results. |
Those departments with adverse claims history pay higher contributions. This encourages greater ownership with the subsequent desire to reduce claims, with the knock on effect to reduce premiums across the council. |
Gazetteer and GIS Integration |
Get greater value from your investment by expanding analysis undertaken to make use of GIS to map hotspots of claims. Use the gazetteer to look up any address information. |
Discover geographic patterns in claims data to help inform on strategic planning. For example, highway maintenance and special projects such as citizen safety. |
Triangulation and Fund Modelling |
Easily produce triangulation and IBNR models as well as projections for future claims experience and different policy excesses. |
By using such features, greater confidence can be applied to the planning process. Additionally, these models can support authority claims for premium reductions from insurers.
|
EDI (Electronic Data Exchange) |
Take advantage of using financial data direct from insurers/cliams handlers such as Zurich & Gallagher Bassett. This provides prompt and accurate data and saves data entry time. |
By combining data from disparate systems greater intelligence can be gained and used to improve efficiency, save money and provide a better service to citizens. |

CASE STUDY REQUEST
As I mentioned in the introduction to this newsletter I am keen to hear from our customers. To kick start this process, JCAD are offering a little incentive.
If you are willing to share your successful use of JCAD solutions then any case study published by us will result in your department receiving either an Amazon voucher worth £50.00 or £50.00 donated to the charity of your choice.
You’ll find a form below in the format that we need. If you’d like to take part then simply fill this in and email it off to me at Phil@jcad.com. If you have any questions then please do not hesitate to contact me.
Many thanks and good luck!
