"To some organisations outsourcing claims to a third party appears to be an inevitable decision often due to the perceived value of reducing costs through the greater efficiency and skill-set offered by the outsourced provider. Where the broker also provides this service it also appeals to the ‘one stop shop’ principle beloved by so many.
Although on the surface this may appear to be true, experience suggests that this is not always the case.
Why?
As with all ‘one stop shops’ there is always a compromise to be made by the consumer, in the case of claims handling:
• Less choice
• Less flexibility
• Less control
